About Hanne
In 1998 I graduated as a Social Worker in the Netherlands. After completing my study, I emigrated to Great Britain where I stayed for approx 9 years. I have gained more than 20 years of experience working within the GGZ in different healthcare settings. Amongst others I worked as a social worker, child protection worker and therapist with different client groups such as children and adults with personality disorders, (complex) trauma, ADHD, autism, elderly, (extreme) challenging behaviour and learning-psysically disabilities. In Aberdeen I worked as a relief worker in various residential settings- and day care centres for children and adults with learning difficulties; and as a social worker in a deprived part of Aberdeen. In London, I worked as a relief social worker in different counties; and for the NSPCC as a social worker. On freelance basis- from my own business- I ran drama classes for different client groups. After graduating as a dramatherapist I worked on a freelance basis as a dramatherapist in Aberdeen.
In 2005 I gained my bachelor and master diploma in Dramatherapy in London at the University of Herdfordshire. In 2006, I moved permantly back to the Netherlands.
In the first years after I got back I worked for different employers; as a child protection worker for the William Schrikker group in Rotterdam; social and communication skills therapist by Centrum for Autism in Voorburg; social worker by Leo Kanner House in Goirle.
In 2009 I started my own practice, first part- time- and then full time. Freelance I worked one jaar as docent drama by the social work course in Rotterdam; I gave classes to different Art therapy courses from Hogeschool Leiden; and I worked 9 years as guest teacher and examinator for different art therapy courses by Hogeschool Arnhem en Nijmegen (Han). The last 2 years I gave supervison to social work students by Avans Breda.
Over the years I completed various courses to develop myself further as a professional. This included training in Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Developmental Transformations, Narrative Sandplay, Forum theatre, Schema therapy Narrative therapy techniques, Psychodrama, Supervison and CFT.
My own practice:
I have been working in my own practice in Breda for over 14 years. In the first years I worked with children, young people and adults. For the last 6/7 years I work mainly with adults. I specialize in working with people with (complex) trauma. I find working with people and drama and non-verbal methods a wonderful combination and I do it with a lot of passion. In therapy we work with experiential- and body focused exercises. This will give you more insight into yourself and your feelings. As a therapist I guide and support so that you gain more insight into your own behavior, wishes, patterns, qualities, pitfalls, emotions, body and body signals.
As a supervisor I am registered with the LVSC, the Dutch Association for Schema Therapy, the ISST and the British Drama Therapy Association (BADTh). I provide supervision and other forms of guidance to art therapists and professionals working social professions, and to professionals who want to register as a Schema Art therapist with the Ned. Association for Schema Therapy (VSt). In addition, I supervise schema therapists who want to register by the ISST.
For a few years now, I have been providing online CPD courses for BADTh on Drama and Schema Therapy and Drama and Narrative Therapy. I develop workshops and training for professionals. With my colleque Margre Knip I developed recently a two day workshop about Working biographical in own work settings. I am also a quest teacher by Rino Zuid in Eindhoven. We are in the process of expanding the range of training courses in Schema therapy for art therapists in this region.
Leisure:
I am married, together we have a 13-year-old daughter. I love to be busy in my garden and my allotment. I love cooking and to be creative- I sow clothes and I like to knit. I love traveling and to discover new places. Reading is also a big hobby of mine. I never have enough time for the things I want to do.
How people see me:
I often hear from clients that I work in a goal-oriented and practical way, that I know how to create a safe and pleasant atmosphere and that I radiate confidence in their own abilities. Patient, professional, enthusiastic, experienced, good listeners, creativity, respect and calmness are also qualities that clients give back to me.
You can always reach out to me you would like to know more about me, my working methods or the forms of treatment I offer.
